Aikido

AikidoAikido, which translates to "The Art of Peace" is a martial art developed in Japan by Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969,) whom generally is referred to as O'Sensei, or "Great Master."

The Purpose of Aikido is not to inflict damage to your enemy with crushing blows, but to redirect the energy of the attackers force. Being able to successfully accomplish this causes the attacker to be thrown and/or immobilized. Although the initial commitment to Aikido is long, once mastered, the skill will always remain with the student and protect them despite their size, age, or strength.

"The secret of Aikido is to cultivate a spirit of loving protection for all things." - Morihei Ueshiba

Do- The Way

Aikido is a defensive martial art that mainly consists of joint locks, throws, and pins to neutralize an attack.

Aikido is the way of harmonizing energy. Mastering Aikido will provide you great techniques that could potentially cripple an attacker.

Aikido"Aikido is non-resistance. As it is non-resistant, it is always victorious. Those who have a warped mind, a mind of discord, have been defeated from the beginning."

"When an opponent comes forward, move in and greet him; if he wants to pull back, send him on his way."

"The Art of Peace does not rely on weapons or brute force to succeed. Instead we put ourselves in tune with the universe, maintain peace in our own realms, nurture life, and prevent death and destruction. The true meaning of the term samurai is one who serves and adheres to the power of love."

- Morihei Ueshiba
