Choy Li Fut

Choy Li FutChoy Li Fut Kung Fu is  a Chinese Shaolin martial art that is derived mainly from Southern styles of Kung Fu but contains some Northern style techniques. Choy Li Fut features five animal techniques bas on the tiger, dragon, crane, leopard, and snake.

Chan Heung, the founder of Choy Li Fut, began his martial arts journey at the age of 7 when he went to live with his uncle, a famous shaolin boxer. By the age of 15, he became so accomplished at his style that he could conquer any challengers from the nearby villages.

He then set out to find Choy Fok, a monk who lived in the mountains, and train with him. After several failed attempts to get Choy to accept him as a student, he finally took Heung under his wing.

After several years of training with the monk, he returned to his village and spent a couple years refining all that he learned. In 1836, Chan Heung formally established his new system of Kung Fu, Choy Li Fut.

Choy Li Fut is rarely practiced outside of China. Choy Li Fut is composed of stances, long fist, buddhist palm, pressure points, grabbing, joint locking, ground fighting, and traditional Chinese Weaponry.
