Muay Thai

Muay ThaiMuay Thai is a traditional art of fighting in Thailand. It's a martial art heavily used by the military and is known as one of the most brutal fighting styles in the world.

Muay Thai is called the "science of eight limbs" That's why Muay Thai fighters are the most feared martial artists around.

The basic offensive techniques in Muay Thai consist of the fists, elbows, shins, feet, and knees. If someone gets connected with an elbow to the head, they will usually go down because of the power coming from it. So don't go hitting people in the head with your elbows!

Muay Thai involves hand techniques similar to western style boxing, powerful kicking, rib crushing knee strikes, and knock out elbow strikes. Low kicks to the thighs are a very painful technique used frequently in Muay Thai.

Stand up grappling is also used and allowed in the ring. Muay Thai practitioners develop a very high level of physical conditioning.

During a match, fighters will often get into a stand up grapple, also called a clinch. The clinch is applied by holding the opponent around the neck or body. Then, following with massive blows with knee strikes to the body or devistating elbows to the head.

Muay THaiThe knees can be used to attack your opponent’s legs, hips, abdomen, floating ribs, chest and head. They can be thrust straight inwards or curved in from the side.

The deadly flying knee is one of the strongest techniques a fighter can use.

In Muay Thai, low and mid body roundhouse kicks are thrown frequently. The most effective way of blocking these kicks is with a well strengthened raised shin block.

Muay Thai has demonstrated its effectiveness against other martial arts styles many times and have come out on top most of the time. So unless you can take a Muay Thai fighter to the ground, don't stand up with him!
